Hello! Wondering if this is a sun conure or a jenday conure

Just have another quick question, Sparky is now starting to bite quite hard. Before he was just mostly licking and clamping my fingers but now he start soft and then when he got my finger he bites quite hard. Not until the skin break but still you feel pain. I am trying not to scream in pain or swear too much when he bite my finger. Any hints on how to stop this? Thanks

My Jenday started doing this and I found saying owe loudly and in a tone that suggested it's hurting then removing my hand from his reach for a while, repeating this process has really helped. He chews my ears much softer now and doesn't bite my hands as hard. If he starts to get to hard win the beak I just say owe and he stops

I do the ow thing and give my Timneh a time out on her perch. She actually says ow now if she bites too hard or touches my face where she shouldn't to let me know she knows she shouldn't have done that. Shes trying to get out of the time out, but I've already learned to be strict in your ways. Its not being mean, like I was thinking I was being at first its just setting the guidelines.

I had a Green Cheeked Conure that used to do that and what I did was as soon as he bit I would say "ow" then immediately put him on the floor! It worked, he learned that if he bit me he would go down! He stopped biting.

Finally after waiting....Sparky is turning out to be a Sun Conure! Now we can see some yellow on her wings and shoulders. [emoji23]

Bite-pressure-training is an invaluable technique! http://www.parrotforums.com/training/63988-bite-pressure-training.html

While this thread is directed towards macaws, plenty of general information about beaks common to all species! http://www.parrotforums.com/macaws/56384-big-beak-o-phobes-guide-understanding-macaw-beaks.html

Congrats on baby Sparky!!! Only time will tell, but with the pictures you have provided, I am leaning towards that she is a Sunday. If you view my album there is 1 or 2 pics of baby Chloe at about 2.5-3 months.
