I have never had a bird before and the family discussion led to a possible new pet. Were between a lizard or a bird. So my research begins.

A bit about me. I am an animal lover to the core. We have a dog, 2 cats, a rabbit, and a fish tank. I have been married 2 years, have two awsome kids, ages 4 and 1. I am a sahm, also. Id really like a pocket pet but after my rabbit, rats and hammys arnt the same. The idea of having a bird perched on me while i clean ect to keep me company is nice lol. The cats do their thing, the dogs a couch potatoe who doesnt get up cept for food or occasionally when kids are rowdy. Hes very protective of them.

Anyways, im an not a cockateil fan, but i fell for a lovebird. Lol

Not sure if you have had rats before or not, but I had a rat for two years that was my BEST friend in the whole world. She rode around in my shirt for about 16 hours a day. If I wasn't sleeping, she was in my shirt or on my shoulder. She went to the park with me, to the mall with me, to the store, to relative's houses, etc. You name it, if I was there, she was there!

Just saying if a bird doesn't strike your fancy after doing research, might look into rats. They are awesome pets.

Ive had rats, degus, gliders, hammys, gerbils, pigs. Bout every little criiter and none did it for me till i found a bun in the backyard. None of my rats were ill curl up and sleep on you past babyhood. I had a lot. Females and males. They were rescue feeders though that i fell for at work. After my last one died..one good one she came to a whistle and huge baby. I wont do another.
