I have a Lutino Lovebird.
Hello my name is Maryann.

In the past I have owned a male peach-faced lovebird. I currently own a female lutino lovebird.
I am having a small problem with her though. Every time I try to interact with her she attacks me.
Also, I don't have a male for her to mate with,I was wondering, what do I do about the eggs she is laying?

Hi Sonny, welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry that I don't have an answer to your question. But I am recommending that you post your question in another section too, perhaps the section on General Health, or if there is s one for lovebirds here.

I wish you lots of luck and a happy answer.

Welcome to the forums, its nice to meet you.

If your bird was not originally hand raised, than you may not be able to properly tame the bird and stop it from attacking you. If it was hand raised, than its just about spending as much time as possible with the bird. As for your egg problem its simple. Throw em out. They are unfertilised eggs as there is no male, so you should throw the eggs away. This may also help with taming, as she may be over protective of her un fertilised eggs.

When she starts to lay, do not throw the eggs away until she has an entire clutch and is done sitting on them. Leave them for at least 1 month. If you are afraid they will rot, you can buy fake Lovebird eggs and replace the real ones with those.

The reason to leave the eggs for a while is because if you remove them too early, or as she is laying them, she will keep laying and laying and will deplete her calcium which is very dangerous. Make sure to also give her extra calcium like a cuttlebone or liquid calcium that you can add to her water.

Sorry I should have mentioned to wait until she is finished laying a the full clutch. But I was just wondering why you wait 1 month for. Is that just the time you need to wait for her to finish laying the entire clutch.

Welcome to the forum Maryann!!! Your answers have been answered in about posts, if you have any other questions please do ask away!!!! :)
