I saw a post on Instagram earlier about a parrot with eyelashes. One of my birds doesn’t have them, but the other does. Button (peach-faced lovebird) does not, but Ava (Amazon) has very cute little eyelashes. I am curious now…do your parrots have eyelashes?

Here are some pics of Ava’s. They’re so hard to see in pictures.

A light grey or off white-yellow color with a darker ring that you can see moving to open close pupils. Depending upon light her eyes can look light to dark yellow or grey. I can definitely tell if she's upset, excited or happy watching her eyes. That ring moving is interesting. It gets larger and smaller as her pupils expand or contract. It looks voluntary too. It changes as she looks across the room or at something close.

Yes, they are a type of modified feather, like a bristle.

My daughter saw picture of Nameliss eye I posted. She thought it was a dinosaur eye from a movie poster. She was interested in the movie. I looked again. Then I looked closely again at everyone. The eye colors and camera angles give so many expressions. Aggressive, evaluation, don't touch, I see you, are you prey and more. I agree this group could be extras from Jurassic Park.

I've noticed itty-bitty bristles for eyelashes on my cockatiels in the past. No pictures to prove it, tho...
