Help molting or plucking

I recently saved an Amazonian parrot ... I am so in love and fascinated with birds. My new parrot louey took awhile to warm up to me. He seems to like me, will now come close to me and try to kiss me but will not let me touch him. Which sucks but I’m working on building trust snd hopefully one day he will let me love him. So I’ve had him for one month and I am concerned with the amount of feathers I’m finding. They look normal molting but I need to check before worst case things get out of hand

It's hard to say without seeing him. Big feathers like that do fall out during a molt, but they usually don't leave major bare spots--- the idea is that a molting bird could still fly and regulate warmth in the wild.

The feathers you have in the photo appear to be flight feathers from both the right and left wings and a tail feather. Their general appearance imply that they are molted feathers.

Amazon's tend to molt flight feathers over several years and as you can see, they are commonly a balanced molt left and right wing and tail.

As you can see, these are large feathers, which require an energy reserve to create the feathers. As a result, a healthy diet is a critical part of supporting your Amazon's ability to molt.

Its very important to have fresh vegetables as part of their diet. Sometimes re homes are seed junkies. If he is , it very important to get eating veggies. As Amazon are prone to low vitamin A. Offer cooked sweet potatoes, yummy and lots of vitamin A, or offer bell pepper seeds and all, well liked by most parrots.

Also very important to weigh your bird weekly and track weights. Often the first sign something is wrong. A kitchen gram scale works great.

Welcome! Louie sounds like he's doing good for the amount of time you have him. Try to progress but at his pace, which could be glacial like a lot of parrots.
