Hello
I'm a new owner of a beautiful Eclectus. Not knowing much about my boy other than he's roughly a year old and I don't think he's previous owner had much time for him at all.
My first hurdle was getting him to eat fruit and veggies as he was only use to a seed diet. He's now enjoying a 90% fruit and vegetable diet.
I have noticed that his tongue looks strange. It looks like a chunk has been taken out at the very top of his tongue. Is this normal?
He eats fine and seem very happy.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Looks the same as my ekkies so I'm assuming it's normal

is the area I'm pointing to in your pic some sort of growth.
I can see it better in the pic you posted when I zoom in.

BTW great looking fella you got there. the reason I ask is because on Maxx I noticed a very small looking growth on his tongue today. I doubt I can get a pic since he hates the camera strap since I tried working with him and a harness and that was about a cluster you know what.lol

Hey Dave

Thanks for that. I was concerned about the odd looking gap at the back looks like a chunk is missing but guessing this is normal. The growth you reference to is actually some fluff in the corner of his tounge that I tried to get out with tweezers.
I've just ordered a harness for my boy not sure how that will go.
Any tips?

Thank you kindly

To over come the challenge of fitting a tongue into the ever small area of the neck and everything else that needs to be in there, this amazing adaptation came about. Great that you noticed it!

Enjoy! Lots of discoveries yet in front of you! But, always ask if you are not sure.

Wow! you have a very tolerant Ekkie,to have him allow you to hold his tongue lol..If I tried to do that with Amy... :19:  As far has your boy's tongue...sorry...I'm clueless.

I'm not that brave lol He's super tolerant but I'm not sure he would have me hold his tongue

Right?

My Romeo would have my finger.

My little conure would take the whole damn hand if I did that!

That is a very tolerant and GOOD looking boy there!
