Hey, we have a new baby parrotlet and she has been sneezing a lot. She is eating but slowling down when it comes to play. She is away from our other birds to be safe. She was playing this morning and talking but has stopped. She also is stratching her nare alot to. She is not hand tame yet. Any thoghts on the cause until we can get her to the vet next week. (We are bringing all of our parrots to the vet for their yearly checkup).

I would bring her sooner-- sounds like an infection of sorts---bird hide illness because showing it gets them killed. If you are seeing symptoms, it's serious enough that you should get her in ahead of the others.

Ok, i will try to get her an appointment made for tomorrow in the morning. She is in my parents bedroom and we have runned a hot shower and it seemed to help a bit as she came down and eat for a while. Thanks.

Keep us posted- when you speak with the vet, emphasize that you are seeing symptoms and behavior change. If the are an exotics vet, this may or may not mean a ton to them, but if it's a certified avian vet, I would think that they would try and squeeze you in (just knowing that your bird is young and obviously not feeling well).

Welcome to you and your flock! Hopefully the vet will diagnose and properly treat the issue. Continuing the quarantine is best for all!!

Just got back from the vet. She said rudee (parrotlet) has a lung infection. The vet belives that there is no danger for the others but there are tests being done to make sure rudee has no other illnesses on top of the long infection. Rudee will be kept away while we treat her and for a little after to be safe.
Rudee already is acting "better". She ate while in her travel carrier after the visit and drank drops from off the bars. Thanks.

I hope Rudee recovers quickly and comfortably. Assume the vet prescribed antibiotics or antifungals?
