Wow lots of advise for Britta =) I say get her on a good diet. She sounds like she would like to trust you but she is not sure yet. I wouldn't blow in her face, because i think it will break any trust she is building. I understand the things we do and how we handle our "children" is a matter of opinion and i respect that =). I think Barbara Heidenreich @ Goodbird, inc. is a wonderful bird trainer, you might look on youtube.com for her videos. Britta sounds like she is a little nervous to be away from her cage but it is also possible she was taught to stay on her cage. I would ask the previous owner, try to find out as much as possible. Then you can decide how to better handle some of the situations. If you are able to train in the morning when your bird is hungry that might help. When i first got Sierra i had to do most of it at night so i saved her favorite treats for at night, which turned out okay because Sierra is not a morning bird as i am also. Good luck i wish you the best with Britta. She will thank you for taking your time with her. Congrats!
