My uncle passed away this week and left behind his conure that we estimate to be about 20 years old. I was wondering if there was anything we could do to help lower the birds stress level and make this transition easier? It is biting everyone it comes into contact with if it?s not in its cage.

I have contacted a local parrot rescue and am waiting to hear back.

Leaving him be so he can observe everything and let him initiate interaction. Lots of treats. Maybe play videos of your uncle if you have them?

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
My condolences for the loss of your Uncle.

Birds sense loss and like young children often act out in rash manner. Establishing a routine may be helpful, as close to previous home if possible. Are you planning to keep the bird or was parrot rescue notification a method of re-homing?
