I've been a tad busy for a couple of days. Here is Kevin-Ray, my first grandchild, born yesterday October 30th. They had to bring him into this world 4 weeks early due to fluid buildup on the mother. So even though he's a bit early, he still weighed in at 7 pounds 4 ounces.

Hooray for Kevin Ray

How sweet. And wow, that's a big baby for 4 weeks early! He looks 'full grown' and healthy and that's good. Hope his mama is doing well too.

Congratulations Grandad! That's a really good weight for so early. Hope both Momma and baby are doing well!

Congrats GRANDPA!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Awww congratulations!! :D

Congrats, he is beautiful:)

MANY MANY congrats, Mike ...I mean Grandpa! :D

Kevin Ray is VERY adorable...and QUITE huge for having been born a month early. Good thing mom didn't go full term, she may have had a wee bit of a problem then. ;)

Congrats, Mike! What a cutie! You must be so proud!

Awwwwwwwwwwww CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Thanks, I'm very proud:) I just hoping they will let him come home sooner than they are anticipating. The doctors are talking about keeping him in the hospital NICU for up to 4 weeks. He still has a breathing tube, which is helping him breath since his breathing was a bit labored after the birth, most likely due to all the fluid build up.

Awwwww a brand new baby! Congratulations!! And Kevin Ray was born on my Birthday!! Happy Birthday little guy! :)

I was so hoping Kevin Ray would be coming home for Thanksgiving, but he will be spending Thanksgiving in the hospital. This is his fourth week in there. His breathing is much better, they have him off the breathing tube and are feeding him with a bottle, but his heart rate drops a little every now and then so the doctors want to monitor this. I'm quite disappointed:(

I'm so sorry, Mike!!! I know how you were hoping to have Kevin-Ray home on Thursday. :(

Were the doctors able to let you all know how much longer they are planning on keeping him there? They must be wanting to monitor his heart more closely, right?

So sorry Mike. I know its disappointing but once he gets through this, he will have many Thanksgivings at home. Try to keep your chin up. Hugs to you and your family. :)

ooooooooh congratulations :) it's sad not to have him home yet, but he should get healthy first, so he can get on your nerves for a looong time afterwards ;)

Thanks folks, It's just I was so hoping to have him home for the holidays. he's bottle feeding now and is doing pretty well. If he continues to feed well from the bottle for another week, they may let him come home. His lungs are doing much better and are maturing so that is a good sign. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The nurses like to take turns combing and playing with his hair. Lucky guy, it makes me want to crawl into one of those jumpers, cry a little bit and tell him to scoot over bub, grandpa needs a little attention to:)

This is like one of my favorite pictures of little Kevin Ray.

He's a beautiful baby!

I know how tough the waiting can be. My second boy spent 10 days in the NICU. Hopefully Kevin Ray will be home soon.
