Hi conure fans,
It's been a year since we've adopted a re-homed young Sun named Cytrynka. She's (DNA-ed) fully tame, and she's adorable (obviously, she's a Sun). With age (she's 1,5yrs now) she's become family-bond (more precisely, bond to the "old family core", she still tries to define a hierarchy with my youngest daughter who's younger than Cytrynka). "Cycia" (we call her many names) loves to be cuddled, loves getting scratches on the head, neck and back. She also likes to preen us with her beak. Cytrynka does not like to wear the harness, but enjoys the time out. She's fully flighted, and most of the daytime she spends outside her cage. As for a Sun, she's relatively low-vocal (she makes "good moring" conure-calls, and does the calling when she likes to grab our attention). I only hate it if she happens to make a call directly to my eary, while sitting on my shoulder (that hurts....).
I want to provide her a long, quality lifetime. I'll need some of your expertise to help me achieve that goal, so I'll be posting some questions and try to share with you some happy conure moments :orange:

You just made me SO HAPPY!
Beautiful bird, happy rehome/rescue, wonderful future.
I will look forward to following your journey!

P.S.
I like the obscure color reference for a name. Beautiful and special.

Welcome and be welcomed. We truly are an international board with members from around the globe and every continent ( except for Antartica). From Austrailia to Canada to Europe to Africa and even Mongolia we have parrot lovers all over. Your little girl is very cute and sounds well loved.

She’s just beautiful and it looks like you’re doing a great job with her!

I completely understand the pain you describe when a sun conure calls directly into your ear (I have 2 suns and it happens every once in awhile - ouch) :)

Thanks for your warm welcome :) Indeed Cytrynka is the apple of our eye, and she knows how to use it. She's lucky because she's rarely alone home, so she's having her "human flock" around her most of the time. She's cute when she's taking a nap, too:

Although seem hard to keep balance, she have perfected staying on top of the bottles. And she can even lift one foot up over there :) Conures are plain amazing!

She's beautiful!

Can't wait for Quincy to be all grown up!

I was the same, anxious to see Cytrynka in her adult plumage. And then I've realized it's a one-way ticket: once grown up, she'll never have that cute green tint of a youngster. So, enjoy the :orange:time with your young Sun

Wow, what great pictures and it sounds like she has integrated into your family marvelously. Can't wait to hear how she grows with you.

Guess who's down there... on the mug & over the mug :orange:
The mugs have been ordered for my kids for their children's day

Cytrynka is beautiful! She's really special. I'm glad she found a wonderful and loving home with you. I look forward to more of those (very awesome) photos.

Hangin' around........

She actually sits under my shirt as I write this :orange:

She is incredibly photogenic and her colors are so striking!

Today we had another sunny day, so I've put Cytrynka in her cage in an open terrace door so she could get some sun-tanning :) Of course all cage doors were secured.

She seemed to enjoy her time.

beautiful bird

Aww, she's such a beauty! So nice she understand the harness is a "necessary evil" as they say!

You should sooo nominate her for Pet of the Day!

God, those birds are so pretty. If anything can cure you of SAD it would be looking at those beautiful creatures.

Cytrynka loves taking a shower :) She enjoyed bathing so much, she almost slept there on my shoulder under running water. She's intensively molting and her body is full of pin feathers, so warm water must be a relief for her.

Wet conure is best conure :D

I don't know how I missed this thread! I bet Skittles was hiding it from me cause he don't want me to see any other suns!

Cytrynka is beautiful!

Agree with BoomBoom too, wet conure is best. Its one of those 'rare' times they have that 'totally innocent' look. All other times, you have to wonder what they are plotting when you aren't looking. lol.
