I tried that with veggies AND offered him warm oatmeal too. He looked at me and whined like it wasn't good enough. lol

He's at 12 weeks. I think he might have been weaned a little prematurely. That's why I'm going to continue with the formula until he stops asking for it.

I think what it really boils down to is that he's a big guy with big beefy hands and he's afraid to touch our Keets for fear of hurting them. He was the same way with our babies when they were born-just so afraid that he might hurt them. He wants to interact with the birds so badly, but he really won't because he says they're too delicate. He's a big strapping guy and he wants a big strapping bird to handle without the fear of hurting it.
I think your hubby may need to see in person some of the "smaller" toos. They are NOT small birds like keets or tiels. They are roughly the size of a large pigeon, and quite substantial. Big feet too. I totally get the feet fear thing. One of the reasons I've never looked much into small birds is those tiny, o-so delicate looking feet. I also prefer a foot that if I grasp it, it isn't going to break or injure the bird. But a bird of this size has nice thick toes so no worries about big man hands harming them.

I think you'll find too, that they really aren't THAT delicate. I mean, how could the smaller species wild relatives survive in the harsh wild outdoors?
Also, I'm a real klutz, and when I'm not paying attention, or am tense or stressed out, I could be relatively 'heavy handed' with things... and I have never in 20 years injured my Poi's who are a lot smaller than a small Cockatoo. They're a little sturdier than they look
. Not that i "manhandle" them... That sentence probably didn't sound good lol. I do see what you guys mean though. Although my Budgies don't like to be handled, when I have handled them they do feel real fragile. At any rate, a Rose Breasted Cockatoo should be pretty safe from "breakage"
