Parrots
I have 1 GCC named Sandoval, he's a recent addtion and is only about 12 or 13 weeks old. My daughter and I also have three Pacific Parrotlets, which love to have babies! Little Handsome, Luli and thei
I keep forgetting that Sandoval is just a wee little baby...everything is new to him. My friend in North Carolina said he was hatched in December, so everything in his life is a new experience. Some things obviously initimidate or scare him, but most things don't. He's adventurous, very smart and looooves to be loved. I'm hoping he will mellow more as he grows out of his toddler stage, but I just don't know. He may decide he likes himself just the way he is. Right now I'm trying to get him used to pellets mixed with some healthy seed, as he is obviously a seed junkie. I just wish he didn't feel like he needed to bite nearly so much...but this is getting better. When he does bit without provocation, or because i'm wearing earrings or talking on the phone, he gets a couple of minutes in his "time out crate". And this he does not like. But he does understand why he's there, because he is biting alot less. Every day is a learning process, that's for sure.

Good luck with him. Glad to hear that things are already looking up. He is just a baby, so I know things that are new maybe scary for him. Good luck

speaking of biting!! I just went to get him out of his cage, and he was perched on my hand when i turned to my dresser to get my medicine out of the bottle. He then started biting my hand to the point where I had to put him in his time out travel case. I feel like everything I do is wrong. I origionally put him back in his cage because I was cutting up his pellets into bite size pieces and he bit at my hands as I was doing that! Lord help us, I just don't know why these things are setting him off.

he may just want your attention. My previous red front left me a good all scar on my finger. he was showing off bbeing an acrobrat in one of our family photos. I ignored him at first, then he yelled twice, and we were still taking pictures and thenhe chomped right on down lol Good old Elvis. Such a jealous brat.

Although my birds are linnies not conures, I can relate to toddler birds biting thing. Even as laid back as linnies are they still like to test everything with their beak. It is getting better but they still won't let me give them scritches. Even though hand raised they do not like hands but they've only been home about 3 weeks. They do give lots of kisses though and like to snuggle on my shoulder.:)

I also had the seed only issue. I got some rowdybush pellets and mixed it with dried herb mix and they did start to eat it after I removed the seeds completely. I had tried other pellets but rowdybush they took right to! Now they only get seeds if they go on their playtop or as an occasional treat if I am going somewhere. Still trying to get them to take fresh fruit/veggies.

One thing I've figured out with birds though is everyday is a new and different day, you just never know what you are going to get!!!;)
