green cheek conure
hi everyone ,

i'm the owner of a yellow side green cheek concure , who is 6 months old. not sure if its a male or a female as of yet , so we call our parrot bash.

i have only had bash for 2/3 weeks. bash was a hand rared which has been great for the settling in period , s/he is great with noise, nothing seem to be stressing s/he out which is great.

seem extremely inquisitive which is great that was what attracted me to a green cheek.

Welcome to you and Bash! Glad to hear the "honeymoon" phase is progressing well. We have many members with conures, you're at home!! Feel free to post pictures, comments, and any questions.

Welcome home to your new 'extended' fid and fid-parront family, Us :D

I agree with Scott in that Bash appears to be settling in quite well. Keep us posted on his/her progress and post pics please....you can even toss in a few photos of lovely Scotland as well if you wish :)

hi everyone ,

we update i had posted in the conure page last night looking for advice on a wee biting issue, the advice i got was great and we did some training to night with the advice , so for the first time we managed a very successful step up and bash even walked up me arm ,

Hey Barclay and welcome to you and Bash to The Parrot Forum. Your in good company for conure answers, those folks are really good with them, and he/she is a cutie. Please share all the pictures of Bash you'd like, and of the Scotland landscape as well. I would hope the Landscape is as beautiful as Bash is....

Welcome and be welcomed. Since you seem to enjoy working with your conure, I HIGHLY recommend that you start teaching him a few basic tricks at first. Step up, shake hands, high five, at first. Remember to do a few things: BE consistent in what you teach, Have new tricks to challenge him, Set aside 15-20 every night same time to have your session,
Always reward when there is positive movement and lastly try to end each session on a positive note.

I personally think trick training, even simple ones, if done correctly, can be a really great way to maintain your intimacy with your parrot. They are very smart and most rise to a challenge and love it. Good luck!
