Hi, it's an intro post! I posted in the eclectus forum but I should probably post here too.

I'm Tasha, and our family became a flock a little over a week ago. So that's the husband, two kids (10 and 8), two mutts, and now a male eclectus. We all live in a rural/suburban area of northeast Ohio.

My experience with parrots is pretty limited. My grandmother bred cockatiels (and firefox says that's misspelled, sorry,) when I was a kid, and she let me help. She had a pair of Quakers for awhile, but they didn't enjoy children. We found that out when I tried to kiss one -- a good bite to the lip made sure I knew to stay out of their space.

Our ekkie is named Duke. He lived with my mother-in-law until she passed away last July. My own involvement with him was limited to a respectful hello, or a quick quiet visit to the 'bird room' on holidays. My brother-in-law had been keeping Duke since his mom's death, but BIL is a high-functioning disabled fellow, and he just . . . couldn't give Duke the care he needed.

I'll write up his whole story in the right spot, but Duke chose me. I've been doing all the research I can, but I know I'll need to talk to other parronts. (love that word, btw.) Nice to meet you all.

Welcome Tasha, Duke, and your menagerie of family and dogs!

You seem to have natural instincts, but feel free to search the forums and ask any questions. Eclectus have crucial nutritional needs, and the eclectus sub-forum has a wealth of information.

Welcome!

I'm glad you found us.

Thank you for helping ol' Duke out. It's a pleasure to have you as a member.

The Rb and I are near Cleveland...
