Hi all, my family and I have welcomed a new member to our flock...a Quaker Parrot named Cheerio. So far he is VERY attached to my husband, and wants to groom him a lot. He does not like the parrot food pellets we purchased. I give him fresh fruit, seed, eggs, vegetables and sometimes pasta. I would like to find a nutritious parrot food he would like, any suggestions. I notice he is always playing with this tongue..moving it up and down against his beak..hope that is normal?? So much to learn about this little baby.:green2:

Welcome to you and Cheerio! :) It's not unusual to have to experiment with different brands of parrot pellets to find out which ones your parrot will eat. ZuPreem Fruit Blend seems to be popular with a lot of parrots, and my QP Ralph also likes Pretty Bird Daily Select pellets, and plain Roudybush pellets-- but only if they're mixed in with the fruit-flavored ones. Try soaking some pellets in spring water or unsweetened fruit juice; lots of parrots like the mushy pellets better than dry ones. Ralph thinks they're a special treat.

Not sure about Cheerio's obsession with his tongue; maybe someone else's parrot has exhibited that type of behavior and they can comment on it.
