I don't think I've ever been on here before! But I'm Anna, I have 6 birds, 5 currently but I'm picking up the macaw in early September. I have Isla the peach faced lovebird, Bee and Mint the budgies, Melania and Basil the eclectus', and soon a female BG macaw. I'm mostly on facebook forums and Avian Avenue but I thought I'd join here as well. I started really really loving birds when I was about 15, my great aunt was in a short term facility because she had fallen and there was a little cockatiel in the hallway downstairs. I hung out with it for hours and that started my very longterm and forever hyper fixation on parrots with them never leaving my mind and me wanting to relate them to every topic, every conversation, and what brought so many birds into my life. Isla was my first bird she was a rehome/rescue, Bee and Mint are from a pet store, Basil is from a breeder, and Mel and the macaw who we think we are gonna call River, are rescues. I'm almost 19 and starting college online soon. I work as a DSP assisting kids 11-21yo with developmentally and intellectually disabilities. I still live with my dad who loves birds almost as much as me.

I'm currently working on an entire room for the macaw so if anyone has any recommendations throw them my way!

Welcome, MissAnnamarie! I'm glad you joined us :)

ChocolateChipCookiez is right, we love photos here, looking forward to seeing pics of your growing flock!

Welcome and be welcomed. I always wonder about parrots that have a dedicated room, that they are shut off from the day to day hustle and bustle of the household.

I'll post pics as soon as I get off work tonight!

She won't be totally shut off forever! After she's quarantined I see the room as just a really big add on to her cage. She'll only be in the cage itself at night and the door to the room will be open after and before the littles have their couple hours out (supervised) otherwise she'll have foraging opportunities and toys, attention from us, etc. while shes in quarantine in her room if that makes sense.

Welcome
Yiu found a great group! We will want pictures of the feathered kids to
