I haven't ever had a bird, but I hope to get one soon! I am especially interested in the Senegals or possibly a Green Cheeked Conure..

Hello and Welcome! Green Cheeks are amazing little birds. Silly, Playful, Interactive and very cuddly! I don't know much about Senegals but there are lots of people on here that do!

Hey, fellow Volleyball lover... so why the new interest in getting a bird?

Study up before you get one. They can be more work than expected if you don't know what you're getting into in the first place. But, they can be a blessing and you'll have a new best buddy. It's almost an either/or situation. You either love being a bird owner or you don't.

One place local here lets you play with their birds as often as you'd like. As the birds get more familiar with you the friendlier they are and you can discover before you buy if your personalities fit well or clash.

Of course, if you're looking at small birds like finches or budgies, the personality thing is not really an issue. That's really just for parrots.

I am not really sure why I have such an interest in birds...I have been studying about them for months now, and I just love them...I have been to almost ALL of the shelters in my area, and I have only found one (vicious cockatiel that I couldn't hold) bird..I am going to adopt from a specialty bird rescue place I think, and if I decide that a bird isn't for me then I can give it back within 30 days...
