Has anyone made one or own one. I'm trying to get some ideas for making one. Also how often do you keep your birds outside?

Yep!

If you can get an old cubby house off someone they work really well.
Then you just need to fix it up and attach wire.

My birds stay outside.

I've heard alot of people just use old wire dog kennels. I know around here on craigslist we have those up for free all the time. An we can only have our birds outside during the day in the summer months as it can get to -70 below zero here in the winter.

I have an older cage that I use for outside, we just roll it out to the patio, its large and heavy, so its difficult to move by myself, it houses a GW Macaw~ I have often wondered about the larger(6x10)dog runs I have seen on craigslist, but he only goes out in a cage when the weather is nice

Right now I keep Rome on our screened in back porch from about 8a.m. to 4:30-5pm ish (sometimes earlier depends on the day). The only time she is caged is around 8pm when she goes to bed (in a smaller sleep cage that we have inside). She is pretty much loose all day. In the morning the sun shines directly on the porch, so she gets a lot of natural light. I really think she enjoys being outside. The neighbors behind us have some budgies that she talks to all day, plus wild birds and squirrels keep her entertained. I've attached a picture of how she is kept during the day. We do have plans on building an aviary outside here is a link that I found to be very helpful, as we are big 'do it yourseflers' and don't want to spend the 3 grand to order an aviary.
