Homemade toys

Please share any ideas you’ve discovered or learned from others on making your own parrot toys. So far I have watched a video that suggested repurposing the “good” left over parts of destroyed toys and I think that is excellent advice. I saw another video that suggested using toilet paper rolls. My bird goes bananas over those cardboard rolls. So when I saw this idea to cut up cardboard egg cartons and put treats in them I thought that sounds like something my bird will enjoy. So, last night with the bird overseeing from my shoulder, this was created and I stuffed nuts inside some have a sliver of almond and some have a piece of chopped walnut, one has a nutri berry.

Repurposing is not just for well chewed toys, but also for toys that for whatever reason did not make make a hit with your Parrot. Also, you from time to time can come across toys that for whatever reason, Humans are interested in paying them and they are heavily discounted. They make great part banks for new style toys that your Parrot likes.

Also, Parrots get bored easily and restructuring a toy into a new variation will extend that toys life and provide your Parrot with something new from pieces seen before.

The plastic pipe section of the Plumbing supplies area offers near endless opportunities to build perches, stands, swings, etc... Then you can incorporate parts and pieces from old toys, and toy parts to add interest.

The possibilities are near endless - let you mind flow when you see new toys, etc.... How can I make that or something like it!

We like to build toys as a family with our Amazon helping and supervising! Assure near instant acceptance of the 'new' thing.

“Assuring near instant acceptance” we made this less than 24 hours ago together and he’s already going at it. If you see the other toy hanging by his feet... it’s never been touched, store bought and hanging there going on 3 weeks.

Toys, HUH.... LOL

Well, Pico has a big, huge cage with playtop, filled with toys, he also has two different playtops in other rooms, also with lots of toys but he is strange when it comes to toys. The only toy he uses on all of his playtops is a 2-3 large brass bell and he's playing alot with it. Any other or new toy is "investigated" for about 5 minutes and most likely never touched.

His way of play is different.... He tries to disarrange my life and make it harder.... HAHAHAHAHAHA There can be nothing on tables, shelfs or counter top what he didn't want to throw or push down to to floor ( except for to heavy objects ), then pushed around on the floor all over the room. Pens, lighters, keys, wallet any small objects are "cleaned" off the surface and somehow end up on the floor. If I look for something small, I not even look at table or counter top anymore, just on the floor.... Grinzzzz

And I put lots of time into making "bird toys" ( I need them for the Macaw's at work) and constantly make also smaller toys for Pico, or buy some or modify bought ones but Pico is just not very interested in playing with them. He rather plays as described above or plays with me one-on-one. Maybe he is just to dedicated to me since I give him and spend with him lots of time ( like 8-9 hours a day ).

But Pico is a funny, friendly, very lovable bird, but he also can turn from one second to another into a "little biting monster" from hell..... hahahaha

But I love him this way !!!
