What do you do when your bird humps your head? Keep him off your head right?

His Hatch day is March 24th 2016 I thought he was too young for this. He started regurgitating for me. I let him on my head because he liked it and was good he just would preen my hair it was cute.

Here is a video of what he is doing. I call him a boy because he clearly humps. only other bird I had that did this was a male parakeet. It is not just rubbing. I am pretty sure I have a horny little teenage boy bird on my hands. What do I do now.

Yep, don't put him on your head ;)

If he gets any warm foods or liquids, stop that. Refrigerate them. Less variety in fresh foods, boring stuff, also helps make them think it is not breeding season.

Be a little more hands-off with play until he stops the sexy behavior. What works fastest for me to get my guy out of sexy-mode is to change the location of his cage to somewhere completely unfamiliar. Even a night or two sleeping at a friend's house is enough to break the spell. Get lots of flight in and wear him out.

I was letting him have warm oatmeal in the mornings with me. I will keep his food to just pellets for now I guess. I already banned him from shoulders but I thought the head would be ok haha. None of that. I love to play wrestle with him and give him kisses. Oh well. I think we need to work on some trick training to distract him and give him something to do.

Thanks.

We are working on him being happy just hanging out with us. Right now he is on the couch playing as I lounge with my knees up so he can sit on them. This is working well. He was very persist about being on shoulders. He is excepting just happily playing next to me. It's nice.

I see now that most of his nips toward me were hormonal nips. If that makes sense. I thought he was too young to be getting all hormonal?

He is being pretty good tonight.

Great news! Good boy Sprinkles :D

I never pay attention to age or time. They all seem to do their own thing anyway.

I had that problem back when the Rickeybird was a randy young fellow. I solved it in part by putting him on an authentic light schedule. He has his own room, which helps. Basically, the blinds go up at daybreak and go down at dusk. I also use a cover-sheet. That gives him a good basis for regular moults and predictable sexual behavior. Now he gets sexy from around June to August... hey, he *IS*a guy! The rest of the year he is fine.

Thanks guys. Sprinkles is doing well no more humping. He is band from all heads and shoulders. He is good with me and will no longs try that hard to get on my shoulder. He still tries with my husband and daughter.

He is better about not biting and the proper amount of pressure to put on skin. He lets me do anything to him. Flip him over kiss his tummy (I can't stop kissing my bird) . I know with time he will be the best bird EVER. Right now he is a stubborn teenagers. He knows step up but when he does not feel like he will no do it. Such a brat and another reason he is no longer allowed on shoulders. He is almost potty trained too thats cool he does not poop on people.

He has a bed time 9:00pm and I don't open his cage till 9:00 am. He is in another room so he gets his sleep. The parakeets might wake him up a little early on some days. My male parakeet loves to make noise.
