Gorgeous birds!

People talk about Conures being nippy and loud (especially Sun Conures), but I don't think our Sun Conure is as loud as they say. I don't know if females are quieter, or if being the only Conure has made her quieter. Our twelve Budgies can be louder than her if they want! As for nipping...don't most birds nip if they feel uncomfortable, startled, etc.? Or they just want to test/feel out something new with their beaks.

My sun conure is a male. He’s very rambunctious, and is always getting into something. He is loud, and sets off our Amazon Alexa probably 10-15 times a day (there’s a dog calming setting for barking, but it also picks up parrot screaming). He is nippy as well. My female Jenday that’s in the background is more calm, not as loud, and isn’t as rambunctious. Both are avid chewers, and require a lot of toys. I’ve had my Jenday for so long that I don’t notice my parrots screams. I wouldn’t recommend any parrot to someone who’s sensitive of sound, or lives next to people who are sensitive to sound in an apartment setting.

Awwww what a cutie. I love Conures (obviously)! They have such fun and sweet personalities.

Interestingly, I am very sensitive to loud noises & constant chaotic background noise, but parrot noise generally doesn’t bother me. I mostly find it comforting. I was a little worried that my new Amazon would be quite loud decibel-wise (& she is), but honestly, I find the higher pitched shrill sounds my lovebird makes to be more grating. Lovies are “nippy” too. They just are who they are. 😊
