How does your birdie greet you in the morning?

This is one of my favorite moments of the day. When Ollie would see me he would often stretch and purr. Juliette runs over and give kisses.

Awwwwwwww that's so sweet. And so civilized!! Lovejoy by contrast starts dinging his bells a good 10 minutes before I even get out of bed at 5AM to signal to his indentured servant (i.e. me) to "Get out here and bring me my breakfast!!" So rude, but I don't mind ;)

My budgies start to chirp quietly as soon as the room starts getting lighter. One at a time I hear soft chirps. Then Donzi and Jimmy Buffettbird start croaking like bullfrogs. Not loudly but loud enough to hear across the room. The 8 Porch Birds that live in a flight cage on the adjacent enclosed porch are the first to see the sunrise and the first to start their day.
Depending on what time the sun rises, I start my 30 minute long budgie feeding routine as soon as they start to stir. When the feeding is finished I open their doors and "release the hounds". 12 of my budgies fly free all day and they're eager to stretch their wings.

Nameliss starts the day saying softly drawling out...yes master. It's repeated until it's obvious I am awake. The noise starts as she rushes me to get her chop. I get kisses. She dives in and barely comes up for air. Her morning chop time is her favorite thing. This morning's pic.

Button starts chirping the second he hears any movement in the morning. When I open the door to the bird room, he usually greets me with a kissing sound & more chirping. Ava is much quieter in the morning than her little brother. She simply puts her wings straight up in the air to say hello when I go in the room to open the blackout blinds. However, once I go to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast, the flock calling begins and continues until the birdies have their chop.

And then she wipes her beak on her human! I love watching them enjoy their chop. Mine gather round the chop dish on top of the largest cage for breakfast. They really like the scrambled egg.

Y’all have such sweet birds! JJ is soooo grumpy in the mornings; I uncover him and open his cage door but I can’t touch him for about half an hour or he will totally bite me, lol! After the proper amount of time, then he’s ready for his morning head scratches.

The budgies are nicer. They usually just shuffle around quietly until I get up. The budgie cage faces my bed and when I had Cooper he used to climb down to the lowest perch where he could see under the blanket and stare at me until I woke up 😂.

I frequently lie on my bed and read, play with my phone, etc. Joey's cage is in the bedroom next to the bed. Yesterday I dozed off while she was out and when my husband got home and walked in Joey was sitting on my chest, quietly watching me sleep. She's such a sweet budgie!

Maybe JJ needs to smell some fragrant coffee to get the brain jump started. He's not alone being grumpy because the sun is up! Nameliss is an early bird. I get the stink eye if I stay in bed without a reason.

My 4 terrors start screaming as soon as they hear my 1) phone alarm go off to wake me up, and 2) when they hear me starting to make coffee/tea in the morning. Vortex has started saying 'Good Morning, Vortex' (Melts from the cuteness factor) while Yvons says 'Evil...'. Charlie and Redshift usually whistle or scream, with Charlie chiming in with 'What now?'.

Don't get me started on how the dog wakes me up...

On mornings that I am up earlier than usual I wait a bit to uncover him. If he is awake he starts by saying "Hi, Hi........hi?" and then it progresses to "Come on, let's go!!"

I love how my budgies get so excited in the morning at about 8 am when I open their cage doors and let them out. A few of them shoot out into the room before I can even walk away from the cage! They do zoomies all around the room and fly over to greet their friends from other cages and gather around the chop dish for breakfast. Between zoomies they hang out on top of the cages most of the day. When I tell people my budgies fly free all day, they always ask "don't they poop everywhere?" I don't really know how to answer without making my house look like the bottom of a birdcage (it can get like that), because yes, they do poop wherever they happen to be when they gotta go. But the 7 living room budgies spend 90% of their time on top of the cages so most poops fall into the cages. Plus, budgie poop isn't like big parrot poop. I do have to wipe the floors about once a week and I vacuum frequently but probably not much more than people who have dogs, cats and small children do.
My budgies have enjoyed all day freedom for well over a year now. I think they would get very upset if I kept them caged all day even if I got much bigger cages.
