How long does Tucuman breeding season last?

I have a Tucuman Amazon that has been in breeding season since about November actuall he had a short burst of about two weeks about a month before . Before that he adored me and was my buddy. Since then he has tried to kill me..lol He has sharpened his beak into a razor and its gotten very long and when he bites he bites to kill. He's made me bleed a few times.

His trigger is my jack Russel Terrier. He is dearly in love with her for some reason. He got on the floor and followed her every where finally chasing her under the bed. Then after that he turned to me and started trying to attack my feet! It was kind of funny really. He didn't like it when I toweled and put him back on his cage though. If the dog is out side he is not as bad then and will let me scratch his head for a few seconds before he tries to sneak attack me but if she is in sight he stays in attack mode.

Any ideas how long this may last? Is there something I can do to correct his behavior? Is he now just in love with the dog and forever going to be mean when she is around?

I want my little buddy back without having scabs all over my hands and arms.

Welcome to the forum. How long have you had him? How I is he? IMO he's jealous of the dog. You're mostly getting a "displacement" type nite he can't get to the dog. I have a hen nape who will bite me if the dog jumps into my lap.

I have had him almost a year. I am not really positive he is a male or how old he is. He was at rescue my neighbor rescued him from a bad situation at the rescue and then he didn't like any of them. I went over one day and he stepped right up for me and let me pet him so she sold him to me for what she had in him. Less than a month later he would let me pet him and play with his feet and beak and clicker train and we became buddies. then all of a sudden he got really mean for about two weeks and it went away then about a month later he started again and hasn't stopped.

Yep! Classic displacement bite.

I think breeding season for these guys is around four months long?
