How long to dry/cure hickory nuts

Hi it's been a long time since I was last on here. Much has changed and I will do a proper update soon.

I'm collecting nuts from my trees. Shagbark hickory in full season, one tree I know of with fruits near the clearing and I'm gathering lots. Black walnuts just starting to drop, I know where two trees with nuts this year are on the property, but haven't really been out properly looking lately. Been very busy. Gonna have loads of nuts put up. My question is how long to dry/cure them before I can start letting Freedom take a crack at them? Same time as for people, or could I start giving her some right away? In the wild parrots eat them fresh from the tree and don't care about long term storage or supposed best flavor/texture so I would think it would be ok immediately, but wanted to check
