Ok......since Paco has been a plucker and feather chewer I will admit I am on a bit higher alert to monitor if I can see new bare patches, bigger existing ones, new chewed feathers, and watching his preening studiously. So far I have found no actual feathers on the ground or in his cage. He preens a lot, but he is also now getting regular spritz baths (and his feathers are brightening and shining up quite nicely already if I do say so myself). But I do find several floofies (sorry, my nickname for the downy feathers) in his cage daily. Apx-10-20 a day. Is that a normal amount to shed or does that seem more like he’s pulling them out? Or could it be a natural result of the fact that he’s getting regular baths and preening more?

I think it is molting time..I am also finding a lot of "floofies" in and around Amy and BB's house.

Meanwhile I think I will start using the word “floofies” myself as official terminology for those downy feathers. Fang is always shedding floofies about the place, half the time he has one stuck on the end of his crest that makes him look like a Dr Seuss character. Thank you :)

I second the floofies!

Hahaha! When they stick to me, I just try to convince my wife that I finally started growing feathers :-D

20 floofies a day sounds about right! Enzo is funny when she gets one stuck on her head, its full on panic mode for a few seconds lol

Perjo leaves a good number of down feathers each day. I don’t think it’s anything to concern yourself with.
