I work 3rd shift 9:30-6:00am so i sleep all day until 6:00pm and i leave about 7. I have a 7mo sun conure who is extreamly cuddely. He has about 4-5 hours of play time being handled. When he is put on the cage it stays open so he has free roam. He has about 4 toys because its not a very big cage so theres two inside and two on top. How much handleing does he need i dont want him to be stressed out. My daughter spend alot of time with him after school but he is by himself most of the day as im sleeping.

Over the summer I spent about 10 hours a day away from my Sun. He has six toys in his cage including one foraging toy. His cage is closed when I leave and he sometimes gets to watch tv with my roommate for a while while I'm gone and he is fine. Some of the days when I'm home all day he'd rather sit in his cage and play with his toys anyway! I guess it kind of depends on the personality of your bird. Does he like toys and does he play with them? If so, my guess would be that he's fine!

Many birds acclimate themselves to their surroundings, including the amount of one-on-one time, but if they they have been treated to 6 hours of personal time and schedules change and all of a sudden they end up with 3 hours, they often start screaming for the attention they think they've been cheated out of.....

Sorry, but there's no table of one-on-one times for companion parrots.....

When you can, you might get a larger cage & add a couple of more toys.....

He does like toys but if hes in the cage and he hears or sees us he starts screaming and flapping. I usually. Wait for him to be quite before i take him out so i dont reward the screaming. I bought this cage as a temp as i want to get a quailty one.

I work 50 plus hours a week my baby get 2 to 6 hours a day of cuddle time and hang out time. Sometimes I'm gone for 10 hours plus on my long days. He does just fine. I feel it's the quality not quantity. He also has a nice roomy cage and lots of toys he keeps himself shredding paper and rolling his ball round on the bottom of the cage.

I think 4-5 hours a day seems good, and just give him extra whenever you can manage :). Just make sure the area he's allowed to free fly in is bird proof so he doesn't hurt himself!

I just graduated high school but I had my green cheek for the last 3 years and I would get home at around 5:30 PM and hangout with him till his bedtime. He seemed happy. On weekends he would get a lot of extra play time.

I agree with quality not quantity. Oliver is always happy after a nice bath and cuddle time, then maybe a snack :p

He should have a big time in his new cage, waiting for you to wake.....

That looks like a great cage. It's almost identical to mine. I got the black color and it looks clean.

I have Apollo with me about an hour in the morning while I shower and get ready and then 2 or 3 hours after work. On weekends he gets up to 7 hours with me! He doesn't get angry on the days that he only gets 3.

Just to let you know! This cage is a lot bigger and I just bought a jungle gym for him to play on top of his cage with.

A lot of people use this cage for their Conure and we have been using it for a long time as well. This is what I put on top of the cage for my bird.

The only downside is there is no seed catcher, but we have hard wood floors and it's not an issue cleaning up around it. Sometimes poop will be on the outside, but again we clean up around it every day and it takes about a minute to do so. If you have carpet maybe it's as simple as getting a floor mat to put around the cage.

Also we got this Cover along with it. It works great!!
