I have a beautiful 4 year old brown throated conure named Charlie. Just bought him on April 18 2015
When we got Charlie in April he was skinny or normal sized I would say and since we've had him I think he's put on a little weight lol it looks cute and were always laughing about how cute he looks & I thought maybe its ok that he put on some weight. But now I'm thinking I might be overfeeding him and I don't want him to be fat and unhealthy if that can happen to a bird because he loves to eat. he didn't get super fat just a little more puffy and even my mother in law noticed and she doesn't see him all the time. Any tips on feeding times or portions??

Birds do not generally (if ever) get fat from over eating. They get fat because the content of their diet is bad. How much does your bird weigh? Typical weight of a brown throated conure is about 75g to 100g.

Birds don't typically overeat. My green cheek conure has pellets available all day and all night. Plus for breakfast he gets one dethawed and warmed ice cube of a whole mix of veggie and fruit chop mixed cooked bird food. So he waits for breakfast then the rest of the day he eats pellets and has not overeaten. Good luck with your new birdy!

Thanks maybe I'm just paranoid lol and I'm not to sure on the weight but I'll see if he will let my hubby weigh him thanks and he mostly eats pellets n some fresh fruit or veggie once or twice a day and we've been trying to cut seeds out of his diet. But is it ok to cut it out completely or to be given as more of a snack.

Pumpkin doesnt eat seeds at all unless it is a treat. i actually dont even keep seeds in the house i go to my moms house for like 4 seeds when i want to give him a treat lol.

Great we just ran out of his seed mix and he actually loves pellets so looks like they'll become a once in a while treat :)
