How sentient are blue crown conures?

The last few days, after getting her, she would always say "Hi Dave!" I'd answer "How are you?" or "Hello!" in return.

Today, she did "hi Dave!"

I answered "Hello!"

She said "How are you?"

I said "I'm fine. How are you?"

She then giggled.



That's one heck of a coincidence...

Or is it?

BCCs do seem to be very intelligent, as she's tried to con me out of millet sprig in the recent past (so we play tug o' war) but this string of discussion material was not exactly expected...

Still, she's now snuggling with the bamboo windchime toy, which is cute but I wish she'd snuggle with me... but it's only been 6 days...

And very true -- earlier tonight, she had squawked a tune not unlike the intro to the droopy dog theme. I repeated the notes in sequence, and she followed suit. A couple of imperfections, but I was shocked at how quickly she responded. And how nearly on-key she was...

Very cool! You're very lucky to have her. Is your name Dave or is that a name from the previous handler? I wish our Sun Conure would learn a word or two, I know theyre not the best talkers. I love him just the same though.
