How to rebuff a conure's romantic advances?

Our new nanday conure has taken a serious liking to my husband, tries to puke on him and everything. It's not too bad yet but I don't want her to get jealous / aggressive with others if she thinks he is her mate. What is the best way for DH to communicate to her he "just wants to be friends"?

That's a good question, sorry I don't have the answer. When my U2 chose me as his mate it was pretty much written in stone. I was his and everyone else was not welcome around me.

I was afraid my bird would be a one-person bird so I had the whole family interact with him. Since we all started being with him, he's picked favorites, but he doesn't have a mate, just like I'd hoped. You could try bringing other people into the home to spend time with her.

I can imagine with a cockatoo it would be really hard to discourage that type of behaviour, eh? At least, I think conures are more widely social. I know Libby, my GCC, wants to feed Toby my rose-crown, but she is super buddy-buddy with everyone. I hope the same for my nanday... I do not mind that she is closest to DH I just don't want her attacking others that come near. Which has not happened yet and she will happily spend time with me but he looks for him if he's out of her sight. I think I may try working with her on some basic tricks as a means of interacting with her intellectually.

Only thing I can say is have everyone handle her. So she willbe comfortable around everyone
