Believe it or not Parrots can get constipation. So if you are at all worried that things are not quite right i think a Vet visit is a good idea.
True constipation in birds maybe predisposed by water deprivation, dehydration, and by eating unsuitable food & grit. Also if a bird swallows a lot if indigestable fibre such as string, cotton or its cage cover, it may interfere with & slow down the movement of faeces through the bowel, such that they become excessively dry (water is absorbed from the bowel) leading to constipation.
Constipation maybe be secondary to physical lumps from other causes developing in the lower abdomen & compressing or obstructing the lower bowel. Such lumps can be eggs, tumors, granulomas, abscesses & uroliths.
Renal constipation can also develop from similar causes & is characterised by the urate or uric acid (normally white part of the droppings) being to dry, untreated it is likely to rapidly lead to gout & kidney failure.
If your birds droppings are normal & he is eating a well balanced diet & all is well. It could also be mimicing some noise it has heard, sort of like a sneeze or passing wind or coughing all of which parrots will copy the sounds. Hope all is well with your little fellow.
