I'm Pablo, a the human in the pictures, and George is a 9 year old male Senegal parrot. I've had him since he was four months old. He's my best friend. I work from home so we spend all day together every day and we're very close. I don't know what I'd do without him. We just wanted to say hello since we have just joined the forum!:yellow2:

Very awesome! A bit confused though, who is the parrot, and who be the human?

You guys look just alike.

I've only had my Senegal a few months, but I'm sure with time I'll start looking like one too.

Welcome. What an awesome bond you guys have! It looks like George (that's the bird right?) has trained you well. Love how he grabs your face with his little talons:D

Welcome! I'm so glad that George has a great human to share his life with. Welcome! I love his little eyes, so expressive.

Welcome to the forums, Pablo and George! Thanks for a terrific introduction with plenty of pictures. We love pictures, and easily identify with your close bond with George!!

When my JoJo grabs my face like that, well, he is going into frisky mode!

 I guess then it is not so adorable in your home:p

Kiwi never grabs my face, but will occasionally kick me in the face instead of give a kiss if he doesn't want to be bothered:rolleyes:

Looks like quite the character - and the parrot looks great, too.
Read up on our thread "Right now Salty is...." if you'd like to know us more. What do you from home as your job? I need me one of those!

George doesn't do it to get frisky. He just wants to make sure my head doesn't roll away. He's very close to me. He loves my mom too.

Does he talk much? I know Senegals aren't known for their speaking abilities, but some can say quite a few words. I'm wondering if mine will ever talk.

He says full sentences and has a good understanding of what things mean. He will say HI! in the morning when he wakes up and will ask to step up. He also says things like "Hi Pablo how ya doin?" and things he's made up by stringing words together that he knows. He says "George" and "Hi Georgie" a lot.

So there is hope! The guy at the pet store told me not to expect much of a talker with Senegals. I love her regardless, but if she talks one day that would be even more of a plus. She's still a baby so I'm not expecting it to happen over night.

Its important to speak to them a lot and repeat the same words a lot. Birds seem to learn words best when there is an obvious meaning attached. So first thing in the morning when you greet your bird, an enthusiastic HIII!! or when your bird steps up, always saying "Step up", etc etc.

Speak an enthusiastic parrot like voice and eventually you'll get at least one word out of your senegal. They don't talk a lot and some never talk though so don't get your hopes up :)

George didn't talk until he was almost 1yr old.

Pablo and George, please accept a belated welcome to the forums! Fantastic photo essay of you and your handsome companion! Thank you for sharing, so glad you joined us!

Did George go through a biting stage? There is another member here whose Senegal occasionally bites him hard enough to draw blood, but the bird was neglected before he got him so I'm sure that's a big cause of it. Also I read some older threads where people were saying Senegals are unpredictable and when they bite they dig into your flesh and twist their beaks.

I can't picture Peanut doing such a thing, she's such a happy go lucky bird and has never tried to bite anyone.

Sorry for the questions. I think most people join here with the intent to ask questions, not be bombarded with them lol.
