It is my serious belief that I got played by a 7 month old U2!! As quickly as his off behavior started, it's gone away. He used this behavior to get his way - to be coddled and sleeping on my shoulder!
When I put a new batch of his favorite balls on his drop-down cage door he miraculously sprung back to the Bambam we know and love! Talking, throwing stuff, tearing up everything he comes in contact with.
I am a proponent of allowing the birds to choose whether they're on one of their hanging perches or tree and leave the doors open from sun-up to sun-down.
Spezi( our SC) prefers the tree but I give him a lift back to his cage 5-6 times a day for food and water. The tree has food dishes attached but no water bowl.
BamBam on the other hand feels safest in/on his cage where the food and water are BUT I found he'd rather play than eat - he's a toddler after all. Today I let him have a choice of inside or out for 3 hours then closed him up to see what he'd do. He immediately went to eat his kibble, drink water and splinter some wood blocks!
The past 3 days I've seen firsthand how much like s toddler a Too really is! If given a choice between food and play - play always wins! No matter how much I read, having a Too in the house brings daily surprises!
