My Linnie's are parents!:greenyellow:

I don’t know when exactly it hatched because when I took a picture on Sunday I thought the baby was just the colored bits of the paper towel and the last pictures before that were on the 12th and there was no baby there.

However, today I took pictures and it is a baby!!!

Until today I did not know there were 5 eggs, I only ever saw 4 at any one time.

I have no idea if the others will hatch. The parents get very agitated when I even try to feed them and hate my photo sessions so I haven't tried to candle the eggs.

Anyone know if the yellowish egg is bad or if it is getting close to hatching?

Also, I know they need more nesting material to prevent spay leg but every time I try to add more the parents kick it out. Any ideas what I should do?

Also, when should I start handling the baby to get it used to people. I know not yet but do I wait till the eyes are open or just until its got all its feathers?

The chick in this photo died but another one hatched yesterday so we shall see what we shall see. :)

Why did the chick die?

I start handling mine at 2 weeks when their eyes are open. I wait for the parents to leave the box and then handle the chicks.

I don't know why it died. There are lots of reasons a chick won't survive. It was their very first one ever so my guess is parental inexperience.
