Hi everyone,
I still need your help;
A friend of mine has two parrots they are enough young and they don't have any nest as well.
I was told it is a proven pair; however they continue to quarrel and they use their own beaks just as two dangerous blades; fortunately they don't draw blood yet; but I'm wondering..are they really male and female??

Have they been DNA or SS sexed? What species? Are they related?

Unfortunately, you didn't give us enough information... and if it's a species that cannot be visually sexed, we can't tell you what their genders are.

Thanks for your answer;
They are both necked parakeets; their gender has been certified due to surgery (no DNA);
the size of the cage are the followings:
1,60meter x1,40 meter x1,30h .
They are 1 and half year old and they are not related;

your advices will be appreciated

I'm going to guess they are indian ringnecks or a similar species?

Cage size sounds alright, although if they aren't getting along very well, it would be recommended to separate them.

You did say they are a 'proven pair' - does this mean that they've reproduced already? Or?

No, they never reproduced so I and my friend have begun to doubt that they are really male and female.

You may have just ended up with an incompatible pair. I heard one breeder who had to keep a male and female separate for something like 2 years before they decided to pair up. This was a rarer species and much harder to find other birds for, so it wasn't like she could go out and get more birds! She simply had to wait them out and kept them in separate cages near each other!

My mom taught me that if they are surgicaly sexed they will have tattoos on the web part of wing right near the body. male on right wing female on left. Mom fostered a pair of sun conures and they were tattooed and she taught me where to find their tattoos by showing it to me.

The word "proven pair" meant they have produced fertile eggs in the past. But a lot of breeders do lie.

You mean they never produced for you or for anyone period? Why are you so persistent for them to reproduce??? Did you purchase them in the idea of breeding them? Have you done it before and do you even know how to hand feed?
