So once every two weeks I give akiro "pet store food" not much just some in her treat bowl. It has the usual, sunflower seeds, this white seeds, the colorful one, some peppers and zupreem pellets. She eats the pellets and her peppers, will not touch the seeds. What bird doesn't enjoy seeds? Most love them, she hardly eats peanuts either. The first thing of hers to go is always pellets, nutriberries, then fresh food. I swear she's broke, I've never heard of a bird who doesn't like sunflower seeds even if they just get it as a treat. Oh well

Be glad, most of us have the opposite problem! Eating NutriBerries is getting some seeds into her.

Hahaha! Those lil white seeds are probably safflower seeds, Rio love those. But she doesn't get them very often. Be glad yours isn't addicted to seeds. For some people's birds, it's all they want to eat.

It's so weird that she won't even eat them when she gets them for treats, but I'm glad she's not addicted to them, none of my birds are luckily
Like for training she won't take any normal treats she would rather have me give her a pellet

Tomi Girl, one of my tiels, didn't know what millet was when I got her! Left a sprig in her cage (she was literally nearly starved to death when I got her) expecting her to tear into it. Week later, still untouched. Now though? She likes them!

Charlie doesn't seem to care for nuts, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds! Well, at least not hulled sunflower seeds... but he loves safflower seeds! Which aren't easy for him to eat... lol I have used pellets as training treats for him, though!

Ya, it happens!

You got it made from the start!!!! Most are seed junkies that won't step away from the seeds. :)

I'm lucky that my Senegal and my younger Blue Crown are both willing pellet/fruit/veggie eaters who enjoy the occasional Nutriberry for a treat. However, my older Blue Crown was an addicted seed eater (and coffee drinker) when I adopted her. It took a long time to get her to reluctantly switch over to pellets. Partly the younger BCC helped by setting an example. The older BCC still does not eat as healthy as I would like. Nibbles pellets. Will eat sweeter fruits but rarely touches veggies. I have to give her Nutriberries more than I like else she goes in to a somewhat alarming weight loss. She was a grossly overweight 240ish grams when I adopted her and started this process somewhere around 15 years ago. She is still overweight at around 190 grams but is in better shape now that most of the fatty deposits that were on her body have melted away. Still, I have to keep a constant monitor of her weight to make sure she does not have a sudden sharp dip because she is prone to it.

So be glad that your bird does not crave the seeds as my old girl did. I was afraid that her seed addiction would shorten her life span by a significant amount but she has made it to an estimated 25-30 years old now. And although she has noticeably slowed down, I have confidence that she is going to at least make it a few years into her 30's.

(Sidney decided he wanted to type something while I was proof reading. I don't understand birdie scratch but maybe your birds can make something of it!)

Porter only nibbles on pellets... he prefers fresh food and goes crazy for it.

He also likes Sunflower seeds, Safflower seeds millet and a few others but he only gets two tablespoons of a pellet/seed mix I make myself xP.

But he gets enough of what he needs from his fresh food that I'm not that worried about it.
