Yes! When I first got mine home 3 mos ago he honked, in the medium tone of geese, routinely too. (If you own geese you will know their sounds: ranging from alert honks to tender vocalizations. i love my geese! I would make them house geese if they weren't so messy.)
Now my macaw's honks are not so much, but there is an occasional little honk or grunt when he's nappy and resting. He actually did a few little honks now while I am typing this....... But the funny thing is that I do have geese and when he first came they were really spooky to him. (He could hear and see them through the patio door). Now my geese are back out on my pasture, so he no longer sees them. (I sometimes get my geese up in the house yard if the predators are particularly active. I happened to bring the macaw home when the geese were in my yard.) he would get very spooked when the geese would run across the yard and vocalize and try to fly: that really got my new bird wigged out! He didn't care for when the geese would tap on the windows and doers either.
I wasn't sure if the macaw was copying their noise at first or if it was his own.... I know that he did not ever have goose interaction previously so I sense that there is a calming or soothing noise that macaws must do on their own that is similar to a soft goose honk?
It's like a croak/honk. Now my macaw is about asleep and the frequency of his honks is less.
I like his noises. Even if he is speaking in a foreign tongue. Ha ha .
