They are so cute. I love the one just chilling out floating in the bath.

Now the owls I worked with at the Lindsay were not real big on the touchie feelie stuff...

If you get an owl, which you cannot legally do without a permit, you also get the rat farm that comes with them to feed them.

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

And you also get to clean up "owl balls" which essentially are like cat furballs, but are the "undigestible parts" that come up as a great big ball of not especially pleasant...

Ahhh, yes, back in the day we had a few owls...

It is their eyes. Those HUGE eyes. It would almost be worth the owl balls....
the rat farm... not so much

There was a baby snowy owl that I raised from a hatchling down at the Lindsay. Little white poofball of feathers that fit in the palm of my hand. They offered to let me take him as a more or less permanent foster...

While it was tempting, I was in College at the time, and my roommates weren't big on the idea of a rat farm on the premises... assuming for a moment the landlord would be thrilled... and approve of it.

I didn't take him.
