Our Amazons have all loved ice cubes as a combination wet /cold toy and a refreshing cold drink on a hot day. But ice chips for our Amazons have not had the same joy as cubes. Only guess is that the chips could be a bit too cold and possible a brain freeze!?!?

I freeze a walnut in small ice cubes. Salty loves them.

I tried giving frozen berries to Pascal. Did not anticipated extra head shaking as a reaction to the cold. Now I have red splatters all over my couch.

Next time I stick to simple ice.

I wouldn't give too many-- especially if indoors where AC is on. Think about what drinking something cold in a cool room does to humans (and we regulate temperature better). If I drink cold soda in a cool restaurant, my lips will eventually turn blue and I get goosebumps. A bird can't shift it's core to adjust like ours can.

LOL that?s what happens anytime you give a parrotlet anything. I gave up on the furniture!

I forgot, one of Salty's summer treats is frozen peas. Not a lot of them, but he sure loves them.
