So i found this cat gym for sale, and i automatically think of Fargo!
It is HUGE, and i KNOW Fargo would just love it, because he likes flat surfaces, fluffy things, and likes all different levels so i know he would use each part of it!

My brother bought a gym for his cat who doesnt use it much, but Fargo goes on it when i am in the lounge room with him, and he doesnt bite at the material or chew it and such, he just plays on it!

So my questions!

Is it safe? It is a fleecey plush material which is the same as his hammock, and there is no way his toes can get caught in it..

Underneath the material on the platforms is a very hard wood, and the poles are a strong cardboard i am fairly sure, which is what the problem would be, but i was going to wrap it in sisal rope, so he wouldnt chew at that :)

I have a whole new order of toys ready to place as well, so it would be filled with toys, and across the top i was thinking of just a long natural branch, and some branches in other places too!

So i am 100% sure he would use it, and 99% sure he would never bite the material and try and chew/swallow it, especially if it was filled with toys!
They dont spray any nasty chemicals on it, but i would leave it to air outside before i brought it in!
One thing might be the boxes what could make nesting behaviour when hes older, so i could just cover them up or something :p

Could this work, or not

He already has a natural play gym, but the more the merrier right :p

There are no large gyms in Australia for parrots, so i see this and see potential haha

Thoughts? :D

Well it could work I know a guy who had a red vented cockatoo that was disabled and he got one of them for the little red vented and he did ok until he found the nesting boxes.

I'm not sure how safe the material is that is something you'd have to look into, but if it was safe then I don't see why not.

Like you stated I would defiantly add some perches to it and so on so it was more bird friendly.

I don't see why you couldn't use it honestly, really sucks you can't get any large playgyms over thee you could always make one from natural branches and make a tree out of them as well in the future, I elieve turqouise did that for her two Catalina's.

Honestly, I've entertained this idea as well. Whenever I go to one of the big pet stores and I see a fancy 6 foot, multi-tiered cat gym, I think of how much Boomer would have fun on it.

I'm not worried about loose strings because it will always be supervised playtime. However I'm also wondering if the materials could be toxic to parrots.

Anyway I'll be watching your thread to see what everyone else thinks about it.

The cat gyms I have seen are made with carpet. With that said, I think it will be a little difficult keeping it clean.

The cat gyms made from carpet are not safe, but this one is different so it may be safe...

Thanks Justin! He has a huge natural ladder, and wooden vines all over the place, as well as his natural gym, and im making him a stand at the moment, so he has lots of natural stuff as well !

So just cover up the boxes somehow, hmm!

and i would make stuff, but i suck at building, i have ideas, but it turns out terribly haha

Yes its in my room, so it would be supervised at all times :)

and Tosca this one isnt made with carpet, its more of a fleece thing, but Fargo is toilet trained, so that would be okay :D

Tab get someone to help you, i am sure your brother would not mind helping with this manly task of building a tree for his little sister:). I mean it would just be easier IMO to build a tree then deal with this huge cat play gym:p.

Seriously Justin, my brother? ;) He sits and plays video games all day, wouldnt even know how to use a hammer hahahahhaha :p
