Identifying these amazons

Hi can someone please tell me the types of these amazons.

The second pic is a Cuban Amazon, I used to have one! Her name is Terry, and I still hear about her Very sweet, small Amazons.

First pic looks like a rare Festive Amazon, but pics of them have a black beak.... Does it have a red rump? Whatever species, it looks to be juvenile.

Where are these birds? May I ask what country you're in? Did you just acquire them or are planning to?

The first bird looks like a green cheek amazon aka "mexican redhead" to me. I agree the second looks like a cuban amazon. Are you looking to buy one of these birds?

One of my family members are looking to buy one of those. As I looked up on the cuban amazon it is correct the second picture is a cuban amazon but the first one im not sure about is it a red crowned amazon or ...

which of them do you feel my family member should buy?

Yup, I, too think they're Mexican Red Head and Cuban.

Red Crowned is just a different name than Mexican Red Head. They are also referred to as Green Cheeked (Amazona viridigendalis).

If I had the choice, I'd go for the Cuban.

Hm... The Mexican Red headed, (aka GreenCheek Amazon) I've seen at stores always have more extensive red (and blue) than that even when juvenile. I don't know though. Maybe that's the way they are when really young?

As far as which one, have your family member interact with the birds and see which one they tend to like personality wise, and which bird tends to like them also.

Though all birds are different, I found that Terry the Cuban Amazon was a very sensitive and gentle soul. Seemed real feminine too lol.
A small, gentle Amazon, but she was very standoffish at the store so no one wanted her. She hasn't sold for 2 years, until they put her on 50% off sale when I bought her lol. This "particular" bird NEEDED a noisy environment with a lot of other birds in the home, not where the house was too quiet when we were gone, though there were 2 other birds. She liked head rubs occasionally and only when she'd ask for it, otherwise hands off (typical Amazon in that respect).

You're absolutely right, Julie, there isn't enough red on the head for it to be a Mexican Red Head.

Could it be a Lilacine Amazon? Or perhaps

Amazona autumnalis diadema???​

Amazon species can have widely varying amounts of head/neck/wing color depending on the individual bird, despite being the same species. GCAs have light beaks and toes, which that bird has Festive amazons have black beaks and dark toes.

Edit: I have seen pictures of my parents GCA when he was a very young bird before he went bald on his head, and he had a very small red patch and just a little blue. Of course, that bird could always be a hybrid. The shape of the beak is what makes me hesitate. GCAs typicallys have that "blockier", classic amazon beak, this one has a more "rounded" beak (that could be grooming or young age though). Possibly a red lored?

Ooh, I wonder... One of those Red Lored subspecies. Didn't think of that. Don't they normally have more lime green instead of green-green cheeks? Then again, I'm not sure about how a juvenile would look. We now NEED to get to the bottom of this! LOL!

Common answer. It's an Amazon parrot. It's a Conure. It's a "McCaw" lol

Tucumans have solid horn-colored beaks, with black scalloping on their feathers...I'm wondering if maybe he's a hybrid?

The one on the right looks like a Hispaniolia Amazon.

IMO the bird in question(on the left) is an immature Red Lored (Amazona autumnalis autumnalis ) The yellow patch is not always visible in immatures ,same for the amount of blue behind the crown. The Beak,cere, and feet are classic RLA IMO.Eyes say less than 1 yr old. Of course hybrids are always a possiblity. Not LCA , GCA or Tuc.
