Okay - I'm mad. I just want to whine.

My family has told me that I can't get any more pets (including birds). The guy at the bird store won't let me buy anymore from him...right now. I know I shouldn't buy another one right now BUT I have an empty cage. So I just keep looking on Craig's List.

I've signed up with Phoenix Landing to foster/adopt a parrot but I have to attend one of their seminars first.

Don't get me wrong...I love the flock that I have.

I think I just wanted to whine where someone would understand. And in the end...I know that they are right.

Oh no! Intervention huh? Nothing wrong with whining among friends.

CL and an empty cage can lead to a slippery slope, they should put up caution signs! :)

You do have a lovely flock! Looking forward to hearing about your seminar and foster project.

Thank you. I do really like my flock and we are comfortable.

I have two empty cages (one brand new actually) and I just use them if I need to separate a bird in case of emergency, or just use them as outdoor cages in summer. If you have a spare cage it doesn't mean you need to get another bird! LOL
You never know the situation that might come up... It seems like you have a decent flock. :)

My flock is working right now and I really don't need another bird. But I keep looking for another bird. I guess I will always keep an eye out for a bird.

I keep the lower portion of my double decker cage stocked with toys/perches or toy parts. The top part has perches...waiting for a bird if necessary. I would like to open up the double decker cage and put one of my birds in it but I haven't figured out how to fix the space between the two cage yet. I think the opening is too big for my Severe Macaw and Jingle might try to squeeze through. So it's just sitting there....waiting for a bigger bird...like a grey...or a blue throat macaw...or maybe a rose breasted cockatoo.

I know! Did you read the recent thread about the MBS? There we go! :D
I look out for birds all the time too, but I take the "bad" ones that nobody wants... Our local shelter has a "cockatiel overpopulation" - 44 of them, and need parronts asap! I'll call them after Easter to see what's going on there..
Right now I decided no more birds unless it would be a true emergency and I have to step in.

I dislike the quarantine thing though. I totally understand it but man it's such a pain. And then you get less time with your flock.

I have so much fun with my flock right now. It would be dumb to take on any new ones...so why do I keep looking?

Because they're like potato chips? Or pokemon? Gotta catch 'em all? I have a deposit on a RB2, but I have told myself NO MORE after this. Which is exactly what I said several months ago when I started searching for a bird. Now that I know what an absolute joy they are (as opposed to the snakes I used to keep... Terrible pets for someone who likes to watch their animals--they sleep all day hidden away!) I want more than one. But the ONLY one that has captured my heart 100% is the RB2, so I think I will be okay after that. My dream list also includes a sun conure, an Ekkie, a Hahn's macaw, and a yellow headed Amazon... But I don't plan to actually get any of those birds. Sure is nice to dream though, huh?

Oh wow what a tough position. I don't have an empty cage and told Husband I want a macaw. I made friends with a friendly guy this weekend. He's a beautiful red macaw. I'm no help to you sorry. Husband told me no, however I must admit I've been spending a ton of quality time with Venus and it has been amazing. Great diversion, try that! Good luck!
