Importance of eating observation and weighing your bird

This is one of the best posts a new bird owner can read. The 13g drop in 3 days is a textbook warning and you caught it because you escalated from weekly to daily weighing, which is exactly the right move when something feels off. One add for anyone reading: a tiny 500g kitchen scale with 0.1g resolution is $15 on Amazon and more than enough for any parrot under the size of an African grey. Weigh at the same time every day (pre-breakfast after first poop is the convention) and write it down. A 3% drop from baseline over a week is a vet call. I log my birds' weights in an app, but a notebook or Apple Notes works just as well. The point is that you have numbers to show the vet instead of "she's been a bit off." Glad Nameliss is being treated, please update us.

Well Nameliss is stable. Off antibiotics, nosedrops, still needs extra nutrition. Weight is stable. Vet oks paste with whatever she'll eat. Says to feed her at least the paste of what would be 12 cc liquid in two feedings. I can live with that. Nameliss is showing typical CAG mentality. Before syringe feeding...how are I? After...sorry you are. She is a pain. I already feel guilty for torturing her no matter the reason. The really good news is she's picking at her favorites in chop. Nibbling at pellets. Vet wants update Monday. Don't know if it's for Nameliss or me 🤔.
