I will be moving to the US from Canada at some point in the not far distant future (a year maybe) but have begun looking into what I need to get / apply for beforehand in order to bring my kiddos (birds, cats and dog) with me.

Here is what I have found thus far:

General Information http://www.foreignborn.com/visas_imm/entering_us/2bringyourpet.htm#birds

Permits and Appications http://www.fws.gov/permits/applicationforms/ApplicationPQ.shtml

More Information http://www.fws.gov/le/Travelers/TravelerIndex.htm

I have also called the state I intend on living in (the state animal protocol folks) and asked them what they'd require.

I'll post more as I get it - good information to have around I think.

That is good info to have around, I wonder if you got a current health certificate from you Avian Vet, if you would still need to quarantine them. That may also be something to look into. (I'm thinking that would still need to happen, but maybe not quite so long)

Coming from Canada to the US they don't have to be quarantined, but Canada is the exception.
