I currently have a yellow crowned amazon parrot called Oreo, he is a brilliant talker and loves to hear himself Squark everyday around 5pm, He has just turned 3 years old. He currently lives inside in a Cage which he has been in since we got him when he was 5 months old. I am wanting advice on moving him to a purpose built Aviery and house with heating in my garden so he has alot more room to fly about and things to do.
Pleas give me feedback on any good or bad experiences that you may have had or know about thanks

Hello and welcome to the Forum:)

Are you thinking of moving Oreo into the outside Aviary on a permanent basis, or just for a few hours each day?

Does Oreo come out of his Cage in the House? I am just thinking if you put him outside in an Aviary on a permanent basis, he may, very well miss being a part of your Household and become very stressed and lonely by suddenly being put in an Aviary.

Maybe, you could just put him in the Aviary during the day and bring him back in early evening. That way he is getting the best of both worlds!

I keep amazons outside ,year round in south Fla. ,Yes i've had tons of problems, where do you live ? Have pics of your aviary?Be glad to offer advice. I think i've solved most of the problems but something new is always showing up, LOL

Moving a Amazon parrot outdoors permanently is a bad idea. They need to feel loved and apart of you. One thing that could occure, is the Amazon returns to its wild nature, if it gets to cold it could die, being outdoors gives him a chance to escape, ect.. I think it is a terrible idea, for a pet amazon..
