Hi all, I am joining the forum in the hopes that someone can provide info. on permanently rehoming a Blue & Gold Macaw. I know this is not what bird lovers want to hear, but I inherited the bird after my relative passed recently. I live alone & work staggering shifts & cannot give him the proper time & attention. I have been researching sanctuaries but am having trouble getting requests for info returned. I do not want to bird to just be sold/given to someone. I wish to do the best I can for him by finding a forever home. I am in MS, have been looking for a place in Florida as I would want to drive him to his new home if at all possible.

Any help of info will be greatly appreciated! Also my apologies if this is posted in the wrong area. :blue1:

There are several members here that are involved in rescuing macaws, and they are in Florida, so I'm sure they will pop in and offer you contact info.....

Good luck.....

This is exactly what us bird lovers want to hear - you don't want to keep the bird because you feel he deserves a better home. You want what's best for the bird, not just for you.

Good luck on rehoming him, unfortunately I'm in the UK so can provide very little insight to rehoming in the USA. Hopefully some members will be along soon to help.

Wishing you the best!

Bumping this up for you ! Good luck!

Thanks all of you just for your supportive words. So nice to find a forum where people don't respond harshly!

Mdinms,

There is also a forum for rehoming - you should put your post there too!

Thanks Zumaria just posted in the rehome forum.

Oh but we do!!!! When we have to!!! ;)

You could also rehome him to a good member on here if the sanctuary don't work out. I'm sure most of them are pretty well stocked with birds.

You came to the right place, we never turn anyone always

We are here to assist where ever possible.

You are doing what is the best for the bird.

Good luck
