So I know Verde is still a baby (9ish wks) and only new to being at home (1 wk) but at what point do you think she'll show interest in toys?

When she's in her day cage, she seems super content just hanging about on her rope perch....gets nice n fluffy, tucks in a foot, beak grinds and chirpers away contently....or has her face digging (read shovelling) around her food bowls or dunking her head in her water bowl.

She's still not fantastic at perching, - tends to sit quite low on a perch and sway haha. But great climber and loves being upside down or running around the bottom of the cage pacing to come get let out.

Do I keep the cage chocker full of toys - or take some out...thinking she might be overwhelmed by my need to make her tonnes of stuff!

I'm certainly no expert, but we had more luck "rotating" toys in and out every few days, until we found something that Jellybean (she'll be a year old this month) showed interest in. Sometimes, something will be in her cage for the 3rd or 4th time, she's paid no attention to it before, and suddenly it's her new favorite! Some of the toys she loves on her playstand she totally ignores in her cage, and vice versa.

Based on what I've been reading from others on here, our birds personalities are soooo different, that what works for one, definitely doesn't work for others! If there's something that Verde is disinterested in, or seems a little afraid of, let her see you "playing" with it, and next thing you know she may be stealing "your" toy! Good luck, and don't worry, she sounds like a very happy/content little birdie! It could just be that you're her favorite toy for now!!! :)

Interest in toys can certainly vary! A good way to get a bird interested in a toy is to place various kinds of food in or on it. From seeds to pellets, millet or nuts, to fresh foods!

For the first week or so I had Lizzy, I was worried she wasn't playing with her toys and getting bored, but I quickly found out she loves playing... Just not when you're watching her lol. Your conure might be the same way. If she can have your attention or toys, then why play with toys?

But like JennyB said, every bird is different. You'll figure out what works soon enough :) maybe even offer her some "unconventional" toys. My in-laws' blue crowned loves cardboard boxes. Plop one in the bottom of the cage and he goes to town ripping it apart and hopping in and out of it!
