Intersting/Funny names for your pets?

Lol - years ago, when I was a young teenager, we had budgies I named - one was Kookie and the other Twitty... We've had dogs named Sassy and Missy. Our current dog is Shadow (he follows everyone around), cat Teddy (he's soft as a teddy bear), cat Spook (she was black and white - spooky looking, and was spooked very easily), and our GCC is Zazu (nod to Disney). Getting a blue IRN in a couple of months and need to find a name there, too - I'll likely make a list then wait to see the personality before settling on one. :)

Aww, thank you Allee:) Sweet Pea was an easy choice since it describes you as well:)

Oh, I also have a friend who has a huge, shepherd-mix dog, looks terrifying, like a dog you wouldn't want to get on bad terms with.
His name is Meow.
He gets really confused when cats are around. :p

I have had WAY too many pets in my life I list them all (mom took in all the stray dogs and cats). But here are some of the cool names :
One of our dogs was names Calamity because she was such a mutt that not even the vet could tell what breed she was lol.
One of the 15 cats was named Amigo and we called him gomi for short.
My yellow napped amazon was named Shoku, which is Japanese for eclipse of the sun (hence the yellow nape lol). But we called him Kuku for short since he drove us Kuku most of the time haha.
Another cute one was a person who bought a sulfer crest cockatoo named her Daisy and I thought that was beyond fitting :)

I love this thread- some fab names out there! :D

My little ginger cat (not so little anymore...) is called Tango. I work for the police and had a call just as we were finishing a night shift saying someone had found a tiny kitten fastened in a bin-bag left out for collection  Our officers were due off duty but I persuaded the nearest Traffic Sergeant to head over and collect him, and I would take him to the local rescue centre when they opened. He grudgingly collected the tiny crying ball of fur and I collected him on my way home. He was so tiny, not even weaned, and cried constantly. Just my luck the local rescue was closed Wednesdays. Yup, you've guessed it, I'd just worked a Tuesday night shift - D'oh! The local vet took him for me, but craftily called a couple of hours later to thank me for bringing him in and he would be going to the local shelter where he would be left on his own for another 4+ weeks because he was so tiny, but rescue would allow me to adopt him for a nominal £30 including all vaccinations and neutering..., so...., guess who ended up with a new cat  He wasn't fully weaned and had an eye infection, but we have a fantastic bond and I'm grateful every day the shelter was closed that morning.

I named him Tango. The officer's callsign who collected him (only a few minutes before the bin-men arrived!) was AT10 (Alpha-Tango-One-Zero), and he was all fluffy and reminded me of the fizz of Tango (an orange flavoured fizzy drink, similar to Fanta)

My other pet's names are fairly standard. I have a black rescue cat the shelter imaginatively named 'Shadow' which I didn't bother changing. My Amazons Rosie and Rupert came with their names when I rehomed them. My OWA Kevin (RIP) was named after Kevin from the Kevin and Perry films/ show as he used to grumble, moan and huff when he was asked to step up (My sister and I were 15 & 13 years old respectively, we thought it was a great name at the time!)

Milo is named after Milo Minderbinder from Catch-22, just because he's an amazing character in my favourite book ever - "Milo could buy eggs in Malta for seven cents apiece and sell them at a profit in Pianosa for five cents."

Oh, and pee & poo too :D

Hehehee!!! That would be Pea and Pooh, not Pee and Poo hahaha! That would be embarrassing, I wouldn't want to tell people their name lol. :11:

Actually I call Robin my Peepy... Or is it PeePee? Or P.P.?

We had a calico cat when I was little her name was sprinkler because she was sprinkled with colors...

LOL!! Yeah, I got that. I was just messing with you ;)

what a great topic, now i will have to share the names of my fids.

Kiva is the name of a Japanese power ranger character,a shy person but transforms into a monster at times(the names fits so much)it's also means protected in an other language.

Fury -my parents came home saying they have a present for me and saying i should get a cage ready.
I of course was like what!,and when it was time to put him in the cage he escaped, apparently the other owner had neglected him.
All i saw was a dirty with broken feathers and a red headed bird flying for my head screaming, needless to say he didn't properly introduced himself.
The name hellfury popped up in my head immediately.

Hope-a week after she was born she got splayed leg and i just kept hoping it would be alright ,that she would be able to live a proper life.
after that other names just didn't work out for me.

Pixel-he too was a present from my parents again,at that time i was playing terraria ,which is pretty much made of big pixels.
I just thought the whole time his neck looks like pixels lol,it stuck.

As for other animals we own or have owned,we had 2 ferrets that were named smokey and bandit,2 cockatiels named coco and chanel(the parfume).
A cockatiel named baily but got stuck with the nickname spacebeast.
2 rats named brush and dustpan,1 rat named stumper which in your languege kind of means poor thing,he was a ruffeld old rat and was about to be fed to snakes when my mother came into the petshop.
2 rabbits named bubbels and bloesem (yes the powerpaff girls).
And wayyyy more but this are the funniest.

I just spat coffee all over the hotel's snow white table linen!!! LOLOL!! Brush & Dustpan!! :D :D

So cool!

BACCI was my first bird, and he didn't have a name for almost three weeks. I wanted to choose the perfect name for my beautiful little baby. I wanted the name to reflect his personality, but still be unique and cute. Bacci LOVED music so much, and there was always music playing for him. He loved the Stones so much I almost named him Keith Richards! Opera was his favorite, so he a most ended up being called Verdi. One night, after work, he was hanging out on top of his cage, and we were listening to Dean Martin radio on Pandora, and the song " Botcha Me " by Rosemary Clooney came on. If you've never heard it, it's a silly song half in Italian, half English, about kissing. As I was dancing and singing in front of his cage, I looked up at him, and he was right in front of me, and he leaned down, almost as if to give me a peck........ I looked in his eyes, and said that's it, your name is Bacci :)

LOKI. We have a Loki too. Ours is a girl, and her nickname is Loki LoLo, or LoLo Bird.

WINGNUT is our Military Macaw, and my boyfriend chose his name from a list of fighter pilot's nicknames.

KNUCKLES was named before we even got her, after a license plate we saw on a pimped out car in Virginia. (Knucky B) We call her Knucky, or Knuck Knuck more than we call her Knuckles.

GAGOOTZ. This is the name I have chosen for the Yellow Naped Amazon we are currently ....ahem...eventually.......definitely getting. It's what Italians call yellow squash. I think it's cute, my boyfriend hates it ;)

I had a cat when I was young named ROTTEN, because he was. A cat named POUJIE, who was named before I was born, and a rabbit named BUNGEE.

My first budgie was White Waters. He was a calm bird, but he was light blue, white and grey, kind of like rapids.

My third budgie I named Storm Cloud. For a while, I couldn't think of a name for her, until one day I looked up into the blue sky and saw a tiny white cloud. She was a feisty girl, so Storm Cloud came to mind.

I have used names such as Taxi, Saffron, Violet and Casper for some other budgies.

Once had a kitten that my sister and I had named Kirara (Kee-la-la - anime based), although we didn't have her for long before someone found her and gave her to a neighbor and we "lost" her. (she was an inside/outside kitten and some neighborhood kids found her and thought she was homeless - she then became an "inside" cat and it wasn't until years later that I saw her again)

Current cats are Squirt and Sprite. Squirt because he's a little pain in the butt (Come here you little squirt!), and Sprite because, well, Squirt is also the name of a soda and the name Sprite was fitting. (she's also somewhat spastic like a Sprite!)

Kodi the dog was actually named after a human (not the first time we've named a pet after a human). Cody (the human) was goofy looking, and Kodi, the dog, well, he was a goofy, happy go lucky puppy! Couldn't resist!

Faye got her name because I was reading a book which had to do with Merlin the wizard (an interesting read, and had it's own spin on the story) and that time era. I just kind of liked the name for her, too.

Tomi Girl wasn't really original... the place she came from called her Tom, thinking she was a male, until she laid eggs. I don't know what name she had previously, but she does know how to wolf whistle, even though she is a *FEMALE* cockatiel... so I just call her Tomi Girl! She's an oddball!

Jayde's name actually came from the mispelling of "jenday" which phones autocorrect to Jayden (someone was talking about their jenday conure) - not because she's green like a jade!

Also have a cockatiel named Pistachio, but I don't know why he was given that name.

At work, I have seen dog names such as Tinkerbell (for a deaf great dane!), The Dude, Dammit, Moshi, Slasher, Arbuckle, Angus (great dane and a french bulldog), Nevada, Bugatti (hah! german shepherd!) and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head atm.

Part of me wishes I named Avery "Sean O'Conure-y", but I'm a biology nut and thus named her a unisex name inspired by her phylogenetic class Aves.

I named my corn snake Pretty Boy, because he was small, pretty, and a bit of a wimp (RIP).

My boyfriend named his corn snake Steve-o. We often have people laugh because they first think of the group of guys who go around doing absolutely mindless (yet somehow horrendously hilarious) stunts, but it's actually in honour of Steve Irwin.

I also used to breed guppies at a young age, and had over 50 fish, all of which I could identify. I won't even get started with the ridiculous names I had for them just to be innovative with names (who names a fish foozums? A 12 year old fish-obsessed girl, that's who... let's just say my mother was concerned for awhile).

I've got two cats Rohan and Luna. Rohan took forever to name, the shelter called him Hawk which was not fitting. We went through Mozart, Tom, Tigger, Rahja, and a few others. One day he ran into the hallway of the apartment building and I couldn't catch him for the life of me. Just to be funny I said "come on rider of Rohan, Gondor doesn't need saving just yet" he turned right around and trotted into the apartment and the name stuck. Luna we named as soon as we saw her. Beautiful soft grey fur. And when we got her home she got her nickname Nightmare Moon pretty quickly (yes I'm a Brony lol).

My cornsnake got his name from my fiancée. Indiana Jones is afraid of snakes and she started calling him Jones even before I could think of other choices.

Treeko my anole is named after my favorite grass starter pokemon.

My axolotl Discord is also named after a My Little Pony character. His parents were Mud and Kip. The pokemon mudkip was based off the axolotl.

Lizzy was already named when we got her. Though we call her Liz and when she's in her "I rule the house" mood we call her Queen Elizabeth.

I named my mom's cat too, Willow. She thinks it's because she's bendy and skinny like a willow tree. No... Named her after my favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer character lol.

My dog is calledc Arie. He was named after a really cool Bell boy from a hotel I stayed at one night. I had been at the beer festival all day and came back to the hotel and her pushed me around on the luggage trolly and took me on the car lift. I told him I would name a horse after him haha but it ended up being a dog... Odd huh!

Nelson was half Nelson after a Ryan gosling movie because I'm in love with gosling! !

Love this thread
My first dog was Robin
Then had a white Shepard named Kilo ( because his mothers name was coke and fathers was Cain). We were young then lol
My golden retrievers Maddie And Murphy RIP babies!

My first cockatiel was amigo RIP
Currently I have a golden named Miley
Two cats Bob and Tom

Echo my TAG
Toby was my eclectus ~ RIP

Still waiting to name my 12 week old U2 till I get the DNA back hopefully this week

Old thread, but anyway...

I have a tendency to reply with "awe muffin" or "suck it up cupcake" or combination thereof frequently when I hear somebody complaining about trivial stuff....it's a pretty common phrase from me, lol

So my 2 black cats were named Muffin and Cupcake when I adopted them. One was a feral kitten and the other was borderline feral.

I also say boy, I say boy, I say boy, I have a rooster named Foghorn, lol

My first born Goffin "Gabby" was named after a beautiful zoo bird-show trainer/performer. She and her mom were friends of my mom, but have since lost contact. "Gabby" turned out to be a male in contrast to the performer whose formal name is Gabrielle. The next Goffin was named by simply dropping the G and became "Abby." The final Goffin, Squeaky was named after his propensity to make various long tones that resemble squeaks.

Our female Ekkie (from Gabrielle's home) was named "Angel," hardly appropriate because the only human she loves and tolerates is me! Many in my family have dubbed her "Red Bird" rather than use a dubious title!

I had a dog named Sinister "Sin" (tiny adorable loving) another dog named Hideous (UGLY puppy). Then Pumpkin who was hatched on Halloween.

I had a German Shepherd called handsome cuz he was.

We wanted to give Leo our CAG an artsy name. Leo is actually short for Leonardo but no one calls him that.

I had a 38 year old Blue Fronted Amazon named "Peckerhead."

Which essentially is what happens when you let a 12 year old boy name a bird.

(It wasn't me. She came to me with that name.) She was actually quite fond of her name. Said it many times a day. You couldn't change it.

Her colorful use of language could make a sailor blush at times...
