Here are my two rescued cockatoos. The Galah is Rio and the Major Mitchell's is Romeo. They were given up by a woman moving into a retirement home. I adore them both--Rio is such a friendly happy bird. Romeo is much more timid, but is a dream come true for me to have a MM.

They are beautiful ! Thanks for sharing .

Oh they are so beautiful! I know a bit about galahs as I have always wanted one, however I know little to nothing about MM's what are they like? I would love to hear more about them!

that last pic is stunning!! excellent lighting!

Both are good lookin' birds!

Oh wow! I have never seen those two kinds of cockatoos. They really are marvelous!

Thanks, Everyone!
Brian--- Romeo is a good birdie--- he's not overly loud, and he's generally well-behaved, although he is quite timid. He will take food from my hands fairly regularly, but he won't allow himself to be picked up. A MM has always been one of my "dream birds", so I was so thrilled to have him come my way!

Gorgeous birds. I am jealous. But my umbrella cockatoo, Cameo is such a treat to have. Had Tasha but couldn`t get along with Cameo. Terrorized poor Cameo so badly had to find her a new home. May look into a smaller cockatoo like the Galah. The wife would go balistic. LOL But that`s what keeps our marraige alive.LOL

sonja - beautiful Toos. I LOVE RB2s. Thats awesome that your dream bird came around. Its amazing how that works out sometimes.

Not to get off topic but Terry I didn't realize that you had to part with Tasha - sorry to hear that, I must of missed that post. If your still looking to add a second, maybe you should consider a male Ekkie? Personality wise they fit really well with another submissive bird - just a thought.

they are simply beautiful ...esp MM

Oh wow, they are gorgeous

Beautiful birds. Does either one talk?

Chewbaca doesn't talk, but Greybeard makes up for that.

Porta---no, neither of these guys talk. Romeo, the MM, does have specific whistles he will make in response to me, but no words yet.

They are both gorgeous !
I love MM ! They are soooo stunning !

absolutely stunning! its great they are in such a wonderful home :). they have a MM and my local pet store, he's a little nervous, but sweet :)

Fantastic birds, are they already on a good brand of pellets? When I got my galah all she had eaten for four years(and who knows before that) was a staple diet of sun flower seeds and junk food and it took 6 months to get her completely off seeds. It's worth it though :)

I love major Mitchell, they are stunning birds!

were they gender tested? Looking at Rio's eye colors, it interests me to wonder as I notice it being lighter in color than Dantes (my galah). I read that females have lighter eye colors and are "generally" quieter than males (Dante talks the words he hears non stop -- his way of calling)

I was told by the previous owner that the MM is a male and the Galah is a female. I don't know if that was her guess, or she had them tested. I have no proof of anything. I do believe that the Galah is a female---she seems more "delicate" than a male I used to know.

I adore how they can look out the window to see what else is going on in the world...
