Now I'm concerned... He's been a bit fluffed up the past couple of days, but it seems to only be if he's cold and/or about to take a nap or something. Well, today I took away his seeds and only gave him pellets (which he ate a bit of) until about 4:00PM. His poop was super watery and then it was only liquid. Now it seems to be normal again, but his vent is all gross..? Is it because he hasn't gotten around to preening it yet or what? I'm worried now. I plan on calling the vet on Monday and telling her I would like an appointment sooner than 3 weeks from now. I want to be sure he's healthy...

Oh, I also left today for a couple hours. This is the first time I've left him for that long since I got him... My SO said that he screeched while I was gone and seemed stressed out. Could it be from him being stressed that I was gone??

Could it be from the meds ? Have you asked the vet of any side affects such as possible loose stool ? I haven't given any meds ( Thank God ) to my birds so far , so Im just guessing.
Possibly new foods that he has eaten ? Have you given him any juices ?
A dirty butt area is a good reason to be concerned though , I this a good idea to call the vet and ask them IMO.

If his droppings are just liquid and no solids then he is not eating and you need to get food in him, try warm oatmeal. Also make a vet appointment ASAP.

Has he been sexed? He is really a "he"? My female dove had a dirty vent once. She was struggling to lay an egg. I bathed her a bit to clean it. Sorry I cant offer anymore advice.

uh oh , are you really sure its a he ?
ConureGirl I was thinking about the same thing ....
Either way , if he were mine , he would be at the vets ASAP

It could be the meds are throwing off his digestive system. Sometimes they act more like a sick bird on meds than they did before. However, the gross vent has me worried. Usually you don't see that unless something is wrong. I'd call the vet tomorrow. Most vet offices are open on Saturday morning. Also, this early in the game and with him on meds, I'd leave him with seed. Nothing wrong with offering pellets so he learns they are food, but I wouldn't push to try to get him on a better diet until the meds are done and his weight is stabilized. Some birds if they get really hungry will drink a bunch of water to satisfy their hunger and then you get super watery droppings. I've had amazons do that but not a cockatoo so far. That may or may not have led to the gross vent. Unless your super sure things are back to normal by morning with him eating seed, call the vet.

Hi, guys. No, I am not sure he is really a he. His vent looks better now, but stained green? He has obviously cleaned it, though. His poops look LOTS better as well. They look normal now. I really think that it was just that I took his food away today, it stressed him out and made him hungry so he drank more, thus the watery poops. But they look good now. He seems to be feeling fine now. I am calling the vet in the morning. If he is acting funny tomorrow morning or if his poops look weird, I'm definitely getting him an appointment TOMORROW morning.

its good hes going to the vet, however, the fact that his vent is stained green really worries me. plus my finches vet was all dirty before he died :(. i hope all turns out well!
